College Swimmer Speaks at Friday Practice

At Friday's practice, Marshall College Swimmer and former Peachtree Ridge Lion, Savannah Ruedt stopped by to speak to our swimmers. She gave a very inspirational speech about what swimming has done for her, the benefits of swimming in college and how much she enjoys it.

As a Freshman at Marshall, Savannah won two events in 2014-15…Placed second in three events…Earned two third place finishes…Placed sixth in the 1650 freestyle at the Conference USA Championships with a time of 16:53.97, also a personal lifetime best…Swam a lifetime best in the 200 freestyle at the Conference USA Championships…Had four swims that ranked in the top ten in school history. Ruedt swam the third fastest times in the 1000 freestyle (10:12.24) and the 1650 freestyle (16:53.97, at the C-USA Championships…Had the fourth fastest time in the 200 freestyle (1:51.16)…Fifth fastest time in the 500 freestyle (4:55.38)… Named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

The kids really enjoyed hearing her speak about her best events, the 1600 and Mile Swim!

Our next guest college speaker will be Georgia Bulldog, Chris Powell.

Annual Teen Tubing Trip!

Once every season we plan a bonding trip for our 13 and up age groups. Tubing in Helen has been an awesome tradition over the past few years and we are excited to continue it on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17TH! So mark your calendars! On June 17th, we will be CANCELING ALL PRACTICES. So there is NO PRACTICE for any age group on that day (we will remind everyone of that closer to time as well). In order for this excursion to happen, we need some super awesome parent volunteers to drive! We have about 53 kids between those two age groups this year, and we want to be able to take as many as can come! So if you are a parent with a teen in those age groups and are able to drive, please email me at deachaney77@gmail.com as soon as possible and let me know how many you can hold in your car, that would be fantastic and we would all be very appreciativeIf you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me an email, text me, or call me at 678-983-0623. I can’t wait for the trip and will definitely be in touch with more information closer to the trip! Coach Danielle
